The open spaces and rock formations of Badlands National Park in South Dakota are unlike any other place that I can think of. It takes about 30 minutes to drive from one end of the park to another and there is everything from canyons, to rolling grass fields to sharp rock formations. It is an amazing place to photograph.
There are over two hundred square miles of white gypsum sand at White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. They provide a stunning contrast with sunset skies and the possibilities are endless. The wind creates these wonderful ripples in the sand that is highlighted by low sunlight resulting in even more photographic opportunities.
