My Personal Thoughts

The best time to be out photographing Bighorn Sheep is in the winter when the rams are out looking for the ladies. I have watched in amazement as the rams chase the ewes around in their attempts to mate with them. Unfortunately for the Rams, I never saw them having any success.

My bighorn sheep photography usually required me to be dressed for cold weather, many times well below zero. They didn't seem to mind, but I thought on a few occasions my face was going to freeze and fall off despite being dressed for it. Watching them suddenly turn and butt heads was one of the coolest things I have experienced in my wildlife photography.
