I was exploring in Kolob Canyon on a very cold Fall morning before sunrise looking for something to get my attention that wouldn't need to have any sky in the image as there were not any clouds that day. I felt that something that would accentuate the morning shadows would work nicely if I could find it.
I will always remember going around this curve and seeing this rock formation off to the left with wonderful shadows behind it. After finding a place to get off the road and bushwhacking down a hill through some heavy growth, I was able to get into a perfect position to capture this scene of Zion Shadows.
