As I've mentioned before on other photographs, I love to photograph scenes with fog. Of course, fog is one of those things that occurs early in the morning and burns off when the sun comes up.
The Columbia River Gorge is abundant with greenery, which makes it ideal for photographing waterfalls with some color. The hike to Metlako Falls is only a couple of miles, so you start your hike before sunup to get there when the fog is still hovering, assuming all other conditions are right.
