My Patagonia Photography Experience

I spent ten days in Patagonia splitting the time between Los Glaciares National Park in Argentina and Torres del Paine National Park in Chile. The village of El Chaltén, Argentina was a charming and friendly town and a great place to base out of to photograph Perito Moreno Glacier and the magnificent Mount Fitz Roy. The hike up to Laguna Capri was challenging, but well worth it.

In Torres del Paine, the Hosteria Pehoe inside the Park was a excellent place to start out from every day. The Cuernos (Horns) are visible to photograph from a number of great location both over water and inland terrain. I left there knowing that I had only scratched the surface of what was possible in this amazing area of Patagonia.

Patagonia Landscape Photography - Mountains and Glaciers

Known for its stunning landscape photography, the Patagonia region of Argentina has hundreds of glaciers, but the best are found in the Los Glaciares National Park which has 13 separate ice masses. The most dramatic is the 19-mile-long Perito Moreno Glacier.

The Cuernos del Paine or 'Paine horns' are located in Patagonia’s Torres del Paine National Park. Pictures found in this Patagonia fine art photography gallery include images of glaciers and mountains and feature landscape photography that captures the beauty of the Patagonia landscape.

Patagonia is an area in South America with two National Parks, Los Glaciares, known for Mount Fitz Roy, and Torres del Paine, known for mountains called The Cuernos (Horns). Visiting and Photographing Patagonia

At Los Glaciares National Park, the mountain called Fitz Roy is the star of the show. It can be photographed from a variety of locations and is stunning from any angle. At Torres del Paine, the mountains called the Cuernos (Horns) are the main attraction and can be photographed as a background to various lakes and rivers. I could easily spend weeks in this park alone.

Patagonia is an area at the southern end of South America that is shared by both Argentina and Chile. The western part near the Pacific Ocean includes a section of the Andes Mountains and many lakes, fjords, and glaciers. It is a place that calls out for Landscape and Nature Photographs to be taken.

Within Patagonia are two National Parks, Los Glaciares in Argentina covering 2,800 square miles and Torres del Paine in Chile covering 700 square miles. The Perito Moreno Glacier is near the city of El Chalten and is the cleanest and most impressive glacier that I have ever photographed.
