Visiting and Photographing Patagonia
At Los Glaciares National Park, the mountain called Fitz Roy is the star of the show. It can be photographed from a variety of locations and is stunning from any angle. At Torres del Paine, the mountains called the Cuernos (Horns) are the main attraction and can be photographed as a background to various lakes and rivers. I could easily spend weeks in this park alone.
Patagonia is an area at the southern end of South America that is shard by both Argentina and Chile. The western part near the Pacific Ocean includes a section of the Andes Mountains and many lakes, fjords and glaciers. It is a place that calls out for Landscape and Nature Photographs to be taken.
Within Patagonia are two National Parks, Los Glaciares in Argentina covering 2,800 square miles and Torres del Paine in Chile covering 700 square miles. The Perito Moreno Glacier is near the city of El Chalten and is the cleanest and most impressive glacier that I have ever photographed. In addition to the mountains in Patagonia, see our gallery of Fine Art Mountain Photography.
