Visiting and Photographing Lakes and Rivers
It may be a marsh in South Carolina, a lake in central Florida, a stream in the Smoky Mountains, a lake in front of a Colorado mountain, a river in the Columbia River Gorge, Olympic National Park or a raging river in Oregon. It just doesn’t matter where. I will love being there and enjoy creating the best possible image.
I was fortunate to grow up living on the water’s edge and that may be why I feel such a connection to it. There are Lakes and Rivers all over the country and I constantly search them out in any area where I am doing landscape and nature photography. The Florida Sunrises and Sunsets, in particular, seem to be spectacular.
I love the challenge of capturing the motion in the rivers with long exposures and working to get the very best reflections of mountains and skies. I can get so caught up in the moment that I have no idea of the time passing by. That is when photography is at its best.
