Experienced In River and Stream Photography

Rivers and streams just call out to be photographed and I have been photographing them from the beginning many years ago. From the Carolinas to Maine to the Pacific Northwest, there are rivers and streams flowing in every state.

I prefer to photograph them looking upstream with the flow coming towards me. The sound of the water cascading over the rocks is soothing and mesmerizing to watch. Sometimes I feel a long exposure is called for and sometimes not. I will keep returning to the again and again.

Facts and Reflections about Photographing Rivers and Streams

I will confess that watching the water flow by in Rivers and Streams as I attempt to photograph them is relaxing and addictive. According to Wikipedia, a stream is a continuous body of surface water flowing within the bed and banks of a channel.

Long large streams are usually called rivers, while smaller streams are known as brooks or creeks. There are 2.9 million miles of rivers covering the United States. The longest river is the Missouri which is 2,540 miles long. River-related recreation and tourism contribute over $97 billion to the United States economy.

My gallery has photographs sharing the beauty of rivers and streams —pictures that convey the serenity of the still waters and other photos that showcase the energy of rushing water as it cascades down a waterfall.
